Join us in welcoming Ginger Huber, Professional High Diver, to the Infinitum Health sponsored athlete team!! Get to know this extreme athlete as she competes across the globe in one of the most dangerous sports in history!!
Infinitum Health: Let’s start with your background and what got you into professional high diving?
GH: My grandfather was a beautiful diver. He inspired me to start diving when I was 13. I continued diving throughout college, and for two summers in college was contacted by a diving company to work diving shows. After my amateur career was over, I wasn’t ready to stop diving so I continued to work diving shows. Working these shows taught me that the more you can do in shows, the more valuable you are, and the more likely you are to get used for the next dive show. So…I started working my way up the high dive ladder.
Infinitum Health: Do you foresee professional high diving as the next Olympic sport?
GH: In the last two years, I’ve started to realize that there is a strong possibility that high diving could be in the Olympics.
Infinitum Health: If so, do you plan to compete in the next Olympics??
GH: It would be a dream come true to compete in the Olympics. However, my main goal is just to try and help get the sport there.
Infinitum Health: Can you share with us about what motivates you to train as hard as you do?
GH: The sport of diving has always been my passion. It is the one thing in life that I can do to be free of any other stresses in life. I work hard now so I can stay strong and help develop high diving for future athletes.
Infinitum Health: How do you maintain your health from injuries or sickness?
GH: The good thing about getting older is that you start to listen to your body and understand what does and doesn’t work. Over the years I have learned the weaker parts of my body and started to focus on making them stronger. One thing I learned is that stretching is very important, this is something I do everyday. I also love running and more recently I started going to The Bar Method classes. The Bar Method is a great workout because it focuses on strengthening the entire body while also building cardio and flexibility.
Infinitum Health: If you were to give advice to all of those aspiring athletes out there that want to get where you are, what would you say?
GH: Don’t be afraid to challenge yourself. The human mind and the human body are so very strong that if you decide you want to do something, it is possible. You just have to believe in yourself and don’t let anyone else tell you that you can’t do something.
Infinitum Health: Finally, what’s next for you? Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
GH: In five years I hope to have more high diving training facilities available for future divers. This is important for the sport to grow. I would also love to coach high diving.
Infinitum Health: Thanks Ginger! We wish you the best of luck in the upcoming competitions!!!
